follow

how do you tell your kids that some people don't have homes?
how do you tell them that kids go to bed hungry?
how do you tell them that these kids are JUST like them.

you show them.

tonight i took the kids with me to the shelter.
they set up the pads, they put out blankets
i thought it would make this huge impression on them, i thought they would be all solemn,
but instead they said it was fun.
audrey walked on her hands and spun cartwheels through the room, georgia giggled and played

and then it hit me.
i am making this "normal" for them
i am making this something that we do, we take care of people because
HE TELLS US TO
not because we want to help or because it seems nice, but because
HE TELLS US TO
“The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’ Matthew 25:40

so we had fun, we played games, we drank lemonade
and we followed HIS command

love your neighbor as yourself.
