embracing today's gifts

i want to be doing this today.
i want to be free to take the train to the city
to show my littles the big, beautiful world
that God gives us each day.
instead i work

so today, i will have to search
and find the little things
the peanut butter breath
the tight squeezes at school drop off
the lost sock found
the spring jacket out from the closet
...and embrace it

because my hands are open to accept the gifts God gives TODAY
in this moment
in this place.

count more gifts at emily's blog today
