Happy Birthday America!

with the big storm on Sunday, the upcoming holiday looked a little bleak
no one had power (we did-thank God), it was over 100 degrees every day and my mom's beautiful 100 foot tree in her backyard was damaged and needed to be taken down.
no swinging on go-go's swing this july 4th

but the week rallied and new traditions were made,
like jon and i being the one to lay out the 50 foot tarp to save our spot for the fireworks
#well that was embarrasing but necessary

brunch to start of the holiday was a perfect beginning

i love the smell of coffee and pancakes

it's just not brunch without a little wimbeldon...(in this picture missy said "what quarter is it?")

this was a perfectly spaced banner...and then i let the kids "help"....sigh

the friends cleared out and the family breezed in, georgia loved playing hostess as miss america

too hot to play outside?  let's play wrestlemania in haper's room!

o'er the laaaand of the freeeeeee.....

oh, you thought i was kidding about the 50 foot tarp thing?  oh no, when jan says spread it all the way out...she means it.

4,6,8.  looking forward to a year of evens.

dear carnie dude, thanks for screwing in all of the screws before i let my daughter "hang glide" 30 feet up.  she is getting so brave and she loved it.

us.

the fireworks started right as gk was chatting up uncle matt, she promptly lept into his lap and left her eyes squarely on the sky.

go go and her girls.

can you smell the sweat of little boys and the excitement of waiting in line for the awesome rides?

20 years from now, when glo stuff is found to cause birth defects, we are going to say, "remember when we used to let the kids WEAR glo stuff and put it near their MOUTHS???"

it was a great holiday.

the next day audrey and harper were playing and harper said that only boys could be in his room (he and his boy cousins made up that rule the day before).  audrey returned 5 minutes later as "andy" and demanded entrance to the boy room.  she is hilarious sometimes.

he loves his sister's, even when he wishes he had a brother.

yes, it is 3 days later and she is STILL Miss America....hope she gets that goal out of the way now:)
