according to wiki:
polar vortex: a persistent, large scale cyclone located
near either of a planet's geographical poles
according to me:
polar vortex: the life sucking freezing effing cold that has been
festering in my town for weeks and weeks causing school to be
cancelled and bodies to turn to dry, frozen messes
and yet, we must trudge on.
we do our best to carry on as if the wind chill of -45 degrees cannot actually kill us
we move indoors
we hoop it up
oh the irony of jade's ice cream cone cross fit socks!
we carry on traditions like family dinner and we modify the fun
instead of playing in the snow and building forts, we build Minecraft worlds
harper, jack, caden, braden and cam: all in the same world thanks to wi-fi
sweet moment with Grandpa and Drew: he was picking all of the good stuff off Grandpa's plate
family dinners literally move in slow motion, i hear the laughter and the stories: they travel through the house and put balm on souls.
this picture was taken during a meeting of the minds
the conversations jump from one to the next, opinions fly and love is present.
and the love keeps us warm.
apparently the polar vortex can also wreak havoc on one's gymnastics performance, my girl didn't like her place at the podium this week, but i watched her grow despite the scores. she is learning to shake it off and live another day. she is learning what it means to be a team in an individual sport.
at the home front, we carry on
we celebrate the every day's with our people
(megan, audrey and georgia playing dress up musical chairs during their sleepover)
we keep our brains fresh with chess
(jon barely beat him, the boy is getting good)
human contact is needed during a vortex
and so are hats and scarves
she said
"mom, look i'm you"
yep, you are
praying that the groundhog pops up this weekend and yells
"MOVE OVER POLAR VORTEX HERE COMES SPRING!!"
but i won't hold my breath
first person that complains about the heat this summer gets punched....
