twin.

the nurse that helped deliver her said it first.
"wow, she's a feisty one-a Gemini huh?"

when she is 3 seconds old and someone refers to her as feisty, you know you are in for it.
add that to the 22 hours and 48 minutes of labor and it starts to piece together.
you have a stubborn one on your hands.

my georgia is a delight most days, she is funny and caring and makes you smile
but then there are the days where smiling is not what you are doing, you are balling up your fists because you want to use them on her sassy little mouth.

she feels things very intensely, if she is happy-it's euphoric and giggly and contagious
if she is upset, it is nasty and horrible and effects everyone within a 2 block radius

i used to think it was because she couldn't talk as well as she wanted to, well that ship sailed and she talks just like any other 5 year old.  she just goes from 0 to 100 at the drop of a hat.  because she can.

this morning i wanted to call her nasty names and scream at her to just shut up.
she was in a mood and everyone had to know about it.

i don't like my pants
i want toast, oh wait no i don't
it hurts when you brush my hair
these socks have threads (don't all socks?)
i don't want to wear boots
i don't want to pick a headband, i would rather stare you down and turn your heart to ice

now, this is the same girl who just sunday morning was praising Jesus with her hands in the air and giving love to whoever was next to her.  same girl who made me laugh 100 times.
same girl being an amazing friend, imagining herself as a princess in an ice cream shop for hours.

intense
it's either all or nothing.  she takes you on the ride of your life and then pushes you out onto the curb when she is done.

the love i have for her is the same thing
it's intense, it fills me up and then empties me out
because it is the same love i have for myself.
i too am a twin.
i am the one who made her who she is.
both Geminis, both driving people insane with our intense moods.
so when i want to snap on her, i will remember the parts of her that i love and admire
she has a giant heart
she is not afraid to try new things
she is an amazing friend

georgia-i hope you read this when you are older.  we will sit at the coffee shop and talk about how there was a time that we butted heads and you will be shocked.  you will try to figure out why you ever disagreed with me.  the two of us Geminis will laugh over the fact that you wore leggings still at five years old because i was too tired to argue with you about it.

someday my twin, someday.
